A shooting in downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, has left at least one person dead and six others injured, including two police officers, according to authorities and hospital officials.
The incident unfolded near the Minneapolis Convention Center in the area of East Grant Street, prompting a large emergency response. Dozens of police vehicles, ambulances and armored units were seen in the area as officers secured the scene and investigated reports of multiple victims.
Hennepin Healthcare received patients following the shooting, while authorities urged residents and visitors to avoid the surrounding area as the investigation continued. The identities of the victims had not immediately been released.
Although reports have referenced the nearby Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, initial official reports have described the shooting as occurring near the convention center and an apartment building. The Hyatt Regency is located on Nicollet Mall and is connected to the convention center by the downtown skyway.
